Meet Our Players for 2022
Kyle Van Klaveren
Auzzie Tuwhangai is back for the Devils in 2022! Auzzie made his debut in Round 10 of 2021 as a centre against the Hunters. Auzzie played both aussie rules and union at stages, but has found his home at the Devils and is also a talented artist. We look forward to seeing what lies ahead in 2022 for Auzzie!
Brayden McGrady made his debut in the Hostplus Cup in 2017 at the Tweed Heads Seagulls, and late in 2018 he was signed to the Penrith Panthers. Unfortunately a serious knee injury caused an extended stint on the sidelines, but the dynamic outside back had a great 2021 season and is ready to debut for the Devils alongside his younger brother Glenn.
Brendan Frei is back for his fourth season with the Norths Devils in 2022! Freizy started off the 2021 season scoring a double against the Tigers, going on to score 5 tries in 3 games. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in round 7, but through working hard in his rehab he is back running and looking stronger than ever heading into the new year!
Jack Ahearn (Captain) will feature in his 5th season with the Devils in 2022 after captaining the club to the 2021 minor and major premierships. Jack played in the Canberra Raiders u20s side before going on to play over 100 Intrust Super Cup games. His dedication to the club, skill and leadership on the field, and passion for community work makes him the ideal person to continue leading our club.
Jared Chambers will spend his first official year with the Hostplus Cup squad in 2022 after playing for the Norths Devils Hastings Deering Colts in 2021. Jared got his first taste of top grade when he made his debut for the club in round 8 and 9 this year. His main position is centre, Norths fans should keep an eye out for him on Bishop Park!
Lloyd Perrett has previously played 56 NRL matches for the Sea Eagles and Bulldogs bringing with him some great experience and skill. We look forward to seeing him run out in the blue, gold, and blue!
Javvier Pitovao arrives at the club for 2022! Javvier joins us from down south where he played NSW Cup for the Bulldogs and Mounties. Originally from New Zealand, he also played u20s for the NZ Warriors. We can't wait to see him out on Bishop Park alongside his cousin Mikey Sio!
Jayden Stephens is back for 2022! Jayden earned a contract mid-2021 after playing well for our BRL A Grade affiliates Valleys Diehards. Jayden will be looking for his Devils debut this year and we can't wait to see him run on at Bishop Park.
Jerome Veve returns a premiership winner after featuring in our win over Wynnum-Manly in October. He has also previously been a squad member of the Toronto Wolfpack and has represented the USA in the Rugby League World 9s competition. The versatile forward will be looking to build on his 14 Norths Devils games from 2021 so keep an eye out for him on Bishop Park next year.
Kierran Moseley is an exciting hooker with NRL and Hostplus Cup experience. In 2021 he played for the Ipswich Jets, and has also spent time with the Penrith Panthers and Gold Coast Titans. Welcome to Bishop Park Keirran!
Kyle Van Klaveren is back for 2022! Kyle returned to the club in May last year to make his Devils debut and had an immediate impact throughout the middle of the season. It was a special return for Kyle who had dreamed of playing in the blue, gold and blue for a long time. Welcome back Kyle, Devil No. 1310!
Liam Horne has re-signed for 2022! Liam made his debut for Norths in 2019 after winning the Colts premiership with the club in 2018. He can play a variety of positions including hooker and lock, and played in our Grand Final this year.
Matthew Milson will continue on at Norths Devils after joining the squad mid 2021 from the SC Falcons. A quick fullback, Matt scored 8 tries this year including the try against Burleigh that sealed our spot in the Grand Final.
Michael Sio will play his 5th season with the Norths Devils in 2022. He has represented Samoa 6 times and played in the UK for 2 years. Michael has played 66 Intrust Super Cup games so far, whilst also captaining the team when Jack Ahearn was injured.
Rashaun Denny re-signs for 2022! Rashaun made his Hostplus Cup debut in 2021, scoring 9 tries in 13 games. He also was man of the match when our affiliate club Valley's Diehards won the BRL A Grade premiership this year.
Sam Lavea joins the Norths Devils after playing for the Tigers in 2021. He is an experienced forward having played a total of 72 Hostplus Cup games, bringing plenty of skill to our club. Devils fans will remember his damaging run against us in our home final versing the Tigers in 2019 - we're glad to see him in the Devils colours next year instead!
Tauaalo Vaipulu has joined the Norths Devils for 2022! Tauaalo arrived at Bishop Park at the start of preseason to train and trial. After impressing Head Coach Rohan Smith he has earned a contract and will be looking to add to his experience in the Hostplus Cup, having previously played for Redcliffe. Welcome Tauaalo!
Tony Tumusa is back with the Devils for 2022! Tony had a superb season for the Devils in 2021 which was unfortunately cut short due to injury. Tony scored 10 tries in 13 games with a staggering 57 tackle breaks. We can't wait to see Tony back on the paddock in 2022!
Tyrone Roberts joined the club in 2021 as an NRL veteran with 189 games to his name playing for the Newcastle Knights and the Gold Coast Titans. He has also represented the Indigenous All Stars 4 times. Tyrone can play any position in the spine, proving to be a useful signing for the Norths Devils as he won the premiership with the club.
Viko Puliuvea will make 2022 his second year at the club! Viko made the move to Brisbane ahead of the 2021 season looking for an opportunity. He went on to make his Hostplus Cup debut in round 12, also playing in rounds 13 and 14. We can't wait to see him back on Bishop Park soon!
