
Ben Nakubuwai brings a wealth of experience to the Norths Devils, having played in both the NRL and Super League. Born on 15 March 1996 in Suva, Fiji, he began his rugby journey with the Leeton Phantoms before transitioning to rugby league at age 14 with the Yanco-Wamoon Hawks and later the Bidgee Hurricanes. His professional career includes stints with the Gold Coast Titans, Salford Red Devils, and Leigh Leopards, where he contributed to significant team successes, including helping Salford reach their first Super League Grand Final and playing a key role in Leigh’s Challenge Cup victory in 2023. Internationally, Ben has been a mainstay for the Fiji national team since his debut in 2016, earning 14 caps and participating in multiple Rugby League World Cups. The son of former dual-code Fiji international Pio Nakubuwai, Ben continues his family’s legacy in the sport. His return to Norths Devils in 2025 reunites him with coach Rohan Smith, aiming to bolster the team’s forward pack with his extensive experience and leadership.
