Tony Tumusa has had a dynamic rugby league career, showcasing his versatility and resilience across various clubs and competitions. Originating from Auckland, New Zealand, Tony’s early promise in rugby union at Kelston Boys’ High School led him to transition to rugby league with the Point Chevalier Pirates. His family’s move to Melbourne provided opportunities with the Altona Roosters and later the Melbourne Storm’s Under-20s program.
In 2017, Tony joined the Central Queensland Capras in the Intrust Super Cup, a move encouraged by his partner, Dawn Berryman, who recognised his potential. His performance there paved the way for a stint with the Redcliffe Dolphins in 2018. Seeking new challenges, Tony ventured to France to play for Carcassonne, where he contributed to their 2019 Coupe de France victory.
Returning to Australia in 2020 to be closer to family, Tony signed with the Norths Devils. His impact was immediate, playing a pivotal role in the team’s back-to-back premierships in 2021 and 2022. By July 2023, he celebrated his 100th Cup game, reflecting on a journey marked by perseverance and familial support.
Tony’s dedication to the sport and his teams is evident in his consistent performances and the respect he commands both on and off the field.
