North’s Devils RLFC is delighted to announce Harvey Lister as a keynote speaker for our opening Business Breakfast in 2025.
At the Norths Devils, our Business Networking Events play a critical role in building a thriving, community-focused environment. Originally working in public relations with companies such as Myer and Ray White, Lister pivoted to the entertainment industry in 1973 and in the ensuing years he founded the concert and event management company, Tour Promotions.
With the help of other business partners Lister would go on to launch General Jacksons, a prominent disco night club within the Brisbane entertainment district, as well as eventually managing the renowned Brisbane Underground Nightclub, directly across the road from what is now Suncorp Stadium (Lang Park).
In the 50 years that Lister has been involved in the South-East Queensland entertainment industry, he has been involved in 40,000+ major events including numerous Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, South-East Asia Games, G20 meetings and Rugby League World Cups.
2019 was a momentous year for Lister as the merger of AEG Facilities and SMG took place; this saw two of the largest venue management and services companies combine and eventually become the singular company, ASM Global. Lister has since served as the Chairman and Chief Executive of ASM Global, overseeing the company’s portfolio in Australia, New Zealand, India, Asia and the Middle East.
Two years following the merger Lister was the recipient of a lifetime dedication award for his services within the Tourism and Events sector, being honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, officially becoming a Member of the Order of Australia.
Through hard work and incomparable business acumen accrued over 50 years in the entertainment industry, Harvey Lister has become one of the single most important figures in Australia’s music industry, being directly responsible for bringing some of the biggest names in the industry to Australia. From The Rolling Stones to Justin Bieber, he has provided the groundwork for some of the most memorable events in Brisbane’s history.
In addition, ASM Global has provided management and consultancy services for projects all across the world, whether it be Abu Dhabi, Beijing or right here in Brisbane. His hard work, diligence and foresight is epitomised by a quote from the president of the Venue Management Association, Leighton Wood.
