The Norths Devils TAFE at School Program

The Norths Devils would like to invite prospective students and their families to TAFE Queensland’s Academy of Sport Information Sessions, held at TAFE Queensland’s South Bank campus.

Through our partnership with TAFE Queensland (RTO0275), students in Years 10 and 11 can embark on a two-year journey to earn a Certificate II and Certificate III in Sport Coaching (SIS20321/SIS30521). This program provides hands-on coaching experience and builds valuable skills, with training delivered right here on-site at Norths Devils.

The information sessions are an ideal opportunity for interested families to meet Academy of Sport staff, educators, and sports industry professionals and learn more about the program’s offerings and career pathways in the sports industry.

  • Time: 6:00 PM

Norths Devils TAFE at School Program

The Norths Devils TAFE at School Program offers an outstanding opportunity for senior high school rugby league players to develop essential skills for both the sports field and broader career pursuits. Through this program, students gain a pathway into the sports industry, starting as entry-level coaches equipped with both theoretical and hands-on training.

Program Highlights:

Successful applicants will attend the program one day per week at Norths Devils Leagues Club, integrating this specialized training into their regular senior high school experience. Students can earn up to 8 QCE credits and contribute to their ATAR, participating in a unique sports education program that blends coaching and development.

Qualifications:

Over two years, students will complete the Certificate II in Sport Coaching (SIS20321) and Certificate III in Sport Coaching (SIS30521), with a curriculum focused on rugby league. They’ll participate in strength and conditioning sessions, rugby league-specific training, and athlete development workshops. The program balances classroom theory with practical, hands-on sessions to create a comprehensive learning environment.

Outcomes:

Graduates will be job-ready and receive accreditation under the NRL framework, enabling them to coach and officiate at a foundational level. This immersive program, held during school hours, allows students to train and study alongside fellow rugby league players from across the region, gaining insight into the Norths Devils’ professional culture.

  • 8 terms

QCE Credits:

  • Up to 8 credits

Eligibility:

  • Available to students starting in Year 10 or 11

Program Inclusions:

  • Training shirt, training shorts, and athlete journal

Cost:

  • $3,080
  • Certificate II in Sport Coaching (SIS20321) – VETiS Funded (no cost to student/school)
  • Certificate III in Sport Coaching (SIS30521) – Fee-for-Service
