The Ironforge Security Norths Devils will host the Brisbane Tigers at Bishop Park on Saturday to continue a BMD Premiership rivalry that wasn’t settled last season. The teams met in the Devils’ inaugural season last year for a match that spanned two days. The Devils and Tigers were on the field and ready for kick-off at Langland’s Park on a Saturday night when the lights went out due to technical issues. They returned the next afternoon and played an enthralling draw that finished in semi-darkness. So the teams will meet again for this round two clash, chasing their first win of the season, but this is a new-look Devils line-up under coach Meg Ward.
This will be the Devils’ first home game of the season after they began on the road against premiers Burleigh in a spirited 28-18 loss last weekend.
The Devils dominated parts of the match, led up front by co-captains Netta Nu’uausala and Jada Ferguson amid a robust forward pack. Centre Becky Davidson emerged as a key player, achieving a hat-trick of tries that underscored the squad’s potent offensive capabilities. Unfortunately, the team faced a setback with Emily Veivers sustaining an injury, paving the way for Makenzie Weale to step into the fray. Weale’s inclusion promises to bolster the forward rotation from the bench.
Fans are encouraged to attend the game at Bishop Park this Saturday for a 5:30 pm kickoff and support the Ironforge Security Norths Devils as they aim to secure their first win of the season.
