The Norths Devils are embarking on their BMD Premiership season with a renewed sense of purpose and leadership as they face the Burleigh Bears this weekend. Jada Ferguson, the inaugural captain, remains in her role, this time joined by Annetta Nu’uausala, an NRLW powerhouse and international prop, as co-captain.
Meg Ward announced the appointments at the Devils’ season launch and the captains were included in the teams named for Saturday’s clash with the Bears. “These are excellent appointments and we’re proud that our senior teams can be led by players of this calibre,” Devils CEO Troy Rovelli said. “This time of the year is always exciting in rugby league and we’re looking forward to the new season under our new leadership teams.”
Coach Meg Ward expressed her enthusiasm for the appointments, saying, “Jada and Netta bring so much to the team, and they’re well placed to lead us through our second season in the competition.”
She highlighted both captains’ extensive experience in NRLW and their significant contributions to the team’s ethos and strategy.
The Devils are excited to introduce new players in their lineup against the Bears, with debutants like Jamie-Lee Lewis joining forces with seasoned players such as Lauren Dam and Hannah Larsson. This mix of new and returning talent underlines the Devils’ strategy for growth and competitiveness in the BMD Premiership.
The team is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of the season, aiming to build on the foundations set by their capable leaders.
