DEVILS SET FOR COUNTRY ROUND

Norths Devils hit the road today for their annual Country Week clash, this time returning to the South Burnett.

Norths take on Wynnum Seagulls in Wondai tomorrow, the feature of the Devils’ visit to the region.

The club has delivered its Belong program to local schools as well as coaching clinics for junior players.

Wondai isn’t far from the Devils’ 2019 Country Week visit to Nanango where they met a Sunshine Coast Falcons team including the likes of Harry Grant and Nicho Hynes.

The Devils won their 2021 Country Week trip to Dysart against the Mackay Cutters before falling to Burleigh Bears in last year’s match in Roma.

“This is a really enjoyable part of the season and it’s a great chance for our players to visit towns that love rugby league,” Devils coach Dave Elliott said.

“The games have great atmosphere and they bring together wider communities for a celebration and for high-quality rugby league.

“We’ll be there proud to represent the Devils and to meet new people.”

Wynnum will include multiple players from their affiliation with the Brisbane Broncos tomorrow.

In contrast, the Devils will feature only players who have signed Norths’ contracts this season.

The club has managed wins against the likes of Redcliffe, Souths and Townsville this season despite having no NRL-contracted players to draw on.

“These are always tough games but we go there off a bye ready to play again,” Elliott said.
