Devils mourn footy legend Bill Pearson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norths legend Bill Pearson, Devil No.291, on Friday May 13

Bill was the center of Norths’ domination of the BRL competition in the early 60’s.

Bill gained a fearsome reputation for his skills under coach Bob Bax as he captained the club to multiple premierships. He also represented Queensland.

As a captain, Bill was well respected and admired by his teammates, with the late great Fonda Metassa naming him as his No.1 skipper.

Bill played in the 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, and 1963 premiership wins, leaving an incredible legacy at the club.

We pay tribute to Bill and send our condolences to his family and many friends.

He will always be a treasured member of the Devils community.

The Devils will hold a moment’s silence before the kick-off of our match against the Tigers on 22 May at Bishop Park at 2PM in Bill’s honour.

Bill’s family will be holding a funeral at 2:00PM Monday 23rd May at Des Allen & Co Funerals, 7 Phoebe Crescent, Bundaberg.
