It’s a huge weekend of grand finals across the Norths Devils’ system with our BRL A-Grade affiliate clubs West Brisbane Panthers and Valleys Diehards meeting in their decider on Saturday at 4pm.
The Devils have had success the past three years with Intrust Super Cup and Hastings Deering Colts squad players entering the BRL with the Panthers and Diehards. The Beerwah Bulldogs also came on board with the Devils for the 2021 season.
There will be plenty of familiar faces for Devils fans in the Wests and Valleys line-ups.
The West Brisbane Panthers squad named for this Saturday features 6 current Devils players. The Valleys Diehards is also expected to have multiple Devils and are yet to release their team list.
Meanwhile there are 11 players named for the Norths Devils Intrust Super Cup Grand Final who have played for either Wests or Valleys.
The affiliate club system allows up and coming Intrust Super Cup players to hone their craft in the tough A-Grade fixtures, as well as putting local players in front of Devils recruitment staff.
The Diehards and Panthers will also go toe-to-toe in the BRL Reserve Grade Grand Final at 2:00PM.
In 2021, the BRL also included an U20s fixture as a support competition for the Hastings Deering Colts which has moved up to U21s.
The West Brisbane Panthers will compete in the U20s Grand Final against Wynnum Manly Juniors, with the Panthers team also featuring a number of Devils Colts players.
There is a strong rivalry in the BRL A-grade competition between Wests and Valleys. Valleys finished at the top of the table last year but were knocked out in the semi-final by a fired-up Panthers pack.
In Round 11 of this year the Diehards edged ahead of the Panthers 40 – 34 in a thrilling match that indicates another close game is ahead.
