Devils vs Pride: Game Preview

This Saturday the Norths Devils will host the Northern Pride at Bishop Park in a rematch of their Round 5 clash in Cairns.

Both teams have been in great form of late, with both sides having won 4 of their last 5 matches. The Devils are currently sitting second on the ladder behind only the Wynnum Manly Seagulls, while the Pride’s recent run has lead them to 5th spot.

In Round 5 it was a 78th minute Bryce Donovan field goal that proved the difference in a wet and rough match at Barlow Park.

Bryce Donovan secured the match for the Devils in Round 5.

Tyson Gamble’s try-saving tackle after Jake Clifford make a break downfield was another crucial moment in that game.

Both Bryce Donovan and Tyson Gamble are absent for the Devils this week, with Jack Ahearn and NRL 150-game veteran Tyrone Roberts being named in the halves.

Tyrone made a successful debut for the Devils last week against a fired up Hunters side, setting up Jon Reuben for a try with a pin point kick with his first touch of the ball.

Jon Reuben now has 99 cup tries in 97 games, equal 8th all time with Heath Egglestone. The previous quickest to 100 cup tries was Nat Barnes in 121 games (stat provided by Bradley Tallon).

In the Hastings Deering Colts competition the 9th placed Devils will take on the 6th placed Dolphins with both teams looking to gain momentum into the second half of the season.
