Devils feature in BRL A Grade Round 1

Even though the Intrust Super Cup season has been cancelled for the 2020 season, it was great to see some our players back on the field during the first round of the Brisbane Rugby League A Grade competition over the weekend.

Many Devils ISC players and players who have previously trained with our squad featured amongst our two affiliate teams Valleys Diehards and West Brisbane Panthers who both recorded wins.

Valleys won a physical match against Pine Rivers on Saturday afternoon, with 6 of their 8 tries being scored by players who have spent time at the Devils.

Norths Devils players featured: Jayden Corrigan, Joey Peato, Rashaun Denny, Simon-Brittain Snowden, Jack Miers, Nesta Watene, Liam Horne, Sosefo Filipine, Nixon Putt and Jared Chambers (u20s).

Final scores: Valleys 48 (Jayden Corrigan 2, Nesta Watene 2, Rashaun Denny, Junior Sefefino, Liam Horne, Joey Watene tries; Scott Prince 8 goals) def Pine Rivers 26 (Arthur Brown 2, Hayden Potter, Tim Tupou, Arthur Brown, Bailey Butler tries; Hayden Potter 3 goals) at Emerson Park.

Saturday night then saw a muddy and tough battle with the West Brisbane Panthers up against the Brighton Roosters. Norths Devils players in this match included Kyle Van Klaverin, Brandon Manase, Tony Tumusa, Harry Freebairn, Ben Mathiou, Michael Molo, and Jake Strasser.

Final scores: West Brisbane Panthers 20 (Michael Walit, Tony Tumusa, Jack Walters, Ben Mathiou tries; Reece Braun 2 goals) def Brighton 10 (Joseph Small, Brock Nelson tries; Michael O’Keefe goal) at Jim Lawrie Oval. You can watch the highlights here
