Devils take retro look into new season

The Norths Devils have unveiled a new jersey for 2018, tapping into the look of the 1980 season that delivered one of the club’s most memorable premierships.

The jersey design is similar to the strip worn by Graham Lowe’s team, which came from fourth place to spring one of the biggest upsets in BRL grand final history, blasting past a Souths team featuring Mal Meninga at Lang Park.

“We’ve already had great feedback from supporters since this jersey was made public – it’s been great to hear some of the memories that it’s brought back,” Devils CEO Terry Reader said.

“Our players are excited to wear the jersey because they understand what it means to this great club.

“And our sponsors are thrilled to be on such a famous jersey. And we’re rapt to have them on board for this 2018 season.”

Reader thanked the sponsors and suppliers who have joined the Devils for the Intrust Super Cup season including some long-term partners who have been with the club for over five years and all renewed their association for 2018 and they include:

• Sci-Fleet Toyota
• Black and White Cabs
• SJRWW
• Jack Purcell Meats
• EMU / EV2 Apparel
• Clayfield Markets

“These partners are among the 23 sponsors and 10 suppliers that are a valued part of our Devils community in 2018. This is a significant increase on last season,” Reader said.

“I also thank Monaghan Signs which is a great local business and new to the Devils sponsor family and has been working hard for us doing up the signs for the ground to be ready for Round 1 at Bishop Park.

“We’ve also got great support from Nova 106.9. They’re the top breakfast radio team in Brisbane and they include one of our former players in Ash Bradnam and one of our great supports in Luttsy, who is a regular at Bishop Park.”

The backs of the Norths’ jerseys have a new feature this year through “Club 17” – a group of partners whose logos will be on the back of a select jersey number. The QRL has enabled each club to have two sponsors on the back of each jersey.

“We obviously have Pathion front and centre, but we have Ladbrokes on the bottom back of all jerseys while the top of the back of the jersey includes a different sponsor for each number,” Reader said.

“This has created a great new sponsorship opportunity and we thank the businesses who have come on board with us for 2018 and encourage our supporters to try and support those sponsors who are supporting the Devils where possible.”
